Donations Since September 2016, Green Door has become and independent CIO charity and since then until September 2018 it did not get core funding from anywhere, as such we have worked very hard to raise money to keep going and offer activities. Since September 2018, Green Door has received a grant from the National Lottery for service advancement. This money will pay for one full time and two part time staff positions for a three year period. The money will also pay for a fleet of canoes and kayaks, some of them specially adapted for disabled paddlers; all this is to further our activities. The adapted boats will be imported from the USA and we will be the first organisation in the country to offer such adapted canoes/kayaks. It is our aim to use this three year grant to grow our activities and like we did with our cycling, grow its participation so that it can be self funding when the grant runs out. How we do this, is to make small charges for the paddling, using the same cost model we have used with our cycles, so that the revenue earned will cover the cost of equipment replacement, volunteer expenses, rent and other costs. We are making agreements with Stoke on Trent council to site at Tunstall and Longton the lockup storage units we have purchased. Because Green Door works hard to make our activities as accessible as possible, not only do we look at disabilities, but we also look at how the lack of finances can make activities inaccessible to some people. This is why Green Door continues to offer its low cost activities for free and its paid activities at the lowest possible cost we can. Because of this Green Door will always need as much support as it can get from the public to help us keep offering activities to all. You can help with any donations no matter how small.
