Green Doors Gardening Project

Before we started work

Green Door has now started a new Gardening project at Westport Lake. Using a small patch of land next to the Green Door hub that is included with our lease we will hold regular gardening sessions for members to come along and try out a bit of gardening. Volunteers have worked hard to put in a wooden edging and have started to dig over the very poor soil that is full of rubble.

Over several weeks about 3 tonnes of rubble was dug out.

Here we see the Garden after the removal of about a tonne of rubble, weeds and bushes and the installing of the sleepers for edging.

There is still quite a few root stumps and a couple more tonnes left to go.

Here we see the garden after we have removed another 2 tonnes of rubble and removed 10 deep rooted stumps and added 2 tonnes of topsoil.

In this video we see the garden after a few months of growth. Absolutely beautiful!

Remember what the Green Door Garden looked like before? We gave it a makeover in May and since then, it has really bloomed!Imagine sitting on this sweet bench between the flowers and the lake… heaven!Big thanks as always to our volunteers, you are wonderful.
